Earthquake in Sumatra

Dear colleagues
At approximately 11.50am, an earthquake measuring Richter scale 6.3 occurred off the west coast off Sumatra, Indonesia. The epicentre was located 50km to the west of Padang, Indonesia, and approximately 420 km from Singapore. The Suntec Towers in Singapore experienced slight tremors from the aftershocks. The shocks from the earthquake were not felt in either the UBS Indonesia office or the UBS Malaysia office.
The UBS Singapore Crisis Management Team (CMT) was convened and will continue to monitor the situation. Please note that the SCDF and Police are providing the Suntec building management with information and at this stage there is no cause for alarm.
As with all earthquakes, there may be some aftershocks in the region and staff should remain on alert for a potential evacuation with further instructions provided over the PA system.
Thank you
